He passionately appealed to the government of Sierra Leone, specifically the Minister of Technical and Higher Education, to step in and help the hundreds of students who are at risk of dropping out of college due to these unexpected financial burdens.
In late August this year, the Student Union President engaged with the Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernoh Bah, to discuss some of the constraints students faced on campus including poor digital platforms, poor transportation and security. Sesay added that there are sufficient reasons for students to demonstrate but they have chosen dialogue over taking the streets.
Nevertheless, the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education and the college administration have not yet provided any comments on the matter, posing a potential risk to the affected students.
